Eleanor Amoroso

London-based designer Eleanor Amoroso launched her label after attracting attention for her uniquely handcrafted graduate collection. Her work has previously been described as a 'commemoration of the forgotten art of craftsmanship' and was featured on the cover of Volt Magazine, worn by model Alice Dellal, just months after graduating. Studying womenswear at the highly acclaimed University of Westminster, Eleanor experimented with a range of creative processes and went on to discover a passion for handcrafting materials, more specifically the knotting techniques of macramé - her work becoming more akin to knitwear. Inspired by contemporary design, she has developed her own unique technique of making garments from long lengths of fine fringing and using macramé techniques to create innovative knits. She has modernised an ancient craft, which she continues to develop further in her work; currently focusing on her line of modern and timeless jewellery pieces and working on private and commercial commissions. All of Eleanor's pieces are handmade in her studio and show her love for the traditional and handmade over the mass-produced. All pieces are made to the highest quality, reflecting the brand's core values.

Eleanor Amoroso | Reinventing Fringe and Macramé

Fashion designer Eleanor Amoroso creates innovative knits using long fringe and old macramé techniques. Her unique creative process includes stitching each of her pieces by hand, and her resulting products are hauntingly beautiful. Similar to DeNada, Amoroso enjoys showing her love for the traditional and handmade over the mass-produced. While the pieces are elegant and intricate, some of her garments have a haunting affect. The dark knits she uses make her cascading fringe pieces seem tough and sophisticated. Even though her designs are intricate, her color choice is minimalistic. Using only black and white, she transforms macramé and fringe into complex designs. For her SS11 Collection, Amoroso set out to create a modern collection inspired by a tough African warrior attitude. The result was long lengths of fringe knotted in various ways to create pieces that were interesting, unique, and incredibly complex.

The love Amoroso pours into her craft is evident. We admire her innovative macramé techniques and dedication to creating unique knitwear.
